GENERAL INFORMATION

The Owner/Driver of each vehicle certifies that their vehicle complies with all track regulations, including safety standards, when participating in any Rad Torque Raceway Oval event.

The Owner/Driver is fully responsible for the actions of Crew Members, Sponsors, and team affiliates.

Any complaints or inquiries should be directed by the Driver, Car Owner, or a designated representative to an Official in a respectful and considerate manner.

All individuals entering the pit area or competing at Rad Torque Raceway affirm they have read, understood, and fully agree to the rules. Entry or participation signifies acceptance of these terms.

Race cars, haulers, wreckers, push trucks, and other equipment in restricted areas are NOT covered by insurance.

ALCOHOL AND DRUG POLICIES

No one will be permitted to enter the pit area or compete while under the influence.

Possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages and/or marijuana prior to or during an event are strictly prohibited. Individuals under the influence of alcohol or drugs are prohibited from competing or being in the pit area. The use of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden and is subject to a fine and/or suspension. Officials will determine the fine and suspension duration. Any driver, car owner, crew or affiliates caught in the pit area under the influence will immediately be disqualified and escorted off the premises.

The use, possession, sale, or transfer of illegal drugs on Rad Torque Raceway property is strictly prohibited. Individuals who do not comply will be fined and restricted from accessing the property. Violations will be reported to the Rad Torque Raceway office, which will determine whether to proceed with fines, suspensions, or report the matter to local authorities.

Participants taking any over the counter or prescribed medication that could affect their performance should avoid attempting the task.

Any participant suspected of violating the rules must be promptly reported to a Race Official. Participants found to have violated the stated rules, either before or during the race program, or prior to the final checkered flag, will be expelled from the premises. Furthermore, the vehicle associated with the offending participant may be disqualified from further competition at the discretion of track officials. Individuals who violate these rules will be subject to fines and

prohibited from accessing any areas of Rad Torque Raceway property until a final judgment is reached. Violators may be reported to the local authorities.

Rad Torque Raceway reserves the right to request substance testing from participants, crew members, or staff based on reasonable suspicion or “for-cause” criteria. Reasonable suspicion may be based on direct evidence or observation of illicit substances, unusual behavioural patterns, signs of disorientation or confusion, and the inability to perform routine tasks.

Positive test results for banned substances or refusal to undergo testing will result in possible suspensions and or fines. A negative test result is required for the participant, crew member, or staff member to return to the facility.

ADMISSION TO PIT AREA

Pit passes are mandatory for pit area entry and must be shown upon request. They are non-transferable. Without a pit pass, individuals must leave or purchase one immediately.

Minimum age requirement is 14 years old.

Note: all persons under the age of 18 must have a minor’s release form signed before entry into the pit area. NO Exceptions!

COOPERATION WITH OFFICIALS

All pit crews, drivers, and owners must cooperate with officials to ensure a smooth and successful event.

In the event of any disputes, only the owner or an appointed representative of the car is permitted to address the officials. Each car may have only one designated representative. All disputes must be submitted to the Race Director.

CONDUCT

Any driver, car owner, or crew member who uses improper language toward officials may be reprimanded, expelled, or fined. Unbecoming conduct, including harassment, verbal abuse, threats, and physical violence, will result in suspension or fines as determined by the track.

Any driver, car owner, or crew member who engages in physical contact with an official, such as shoving, jostling, striking, or attempting to strike, will be fined and may be suspended for up to one year, as determined by the track or series officials.

Engaging in altercations within the pits or infield is strictly prohibited. Any driver, car owner, crew or affiliates found violating this rule may be subject to fines and/or suspension at the discretion

of track and/or series officials. Such actions could also lead to the disqualification of the involved team or teams.

Pit Parking – Race cars and pit equipment will be parked on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional restrictions may be imposed for special events. Please maintain environmental consciousness by keeping your area clean and managing spills appropriately. Ensure that you leave your area in the condition you would like to find it.

Event Schedule – All events will adhere to a predetermined schedule. The National Anthem will be played at the designated time, with drivers participating in the first event strapped in their cars with engines turned off.

RACE PROCEDURES

Raceday Check in / Pill Draw – Check-in and pill draw will take place at the back gate when the pit gates open. All drivers must participate in the pill draw to determine qualifying or heat race starting positions. (Depending on whether time trials occur.)

Any driver who does not check in before the start of the pit meeting will be placed at the rear of their heat race or at the end of the qualifying order. If positioned at the end of the qualifying order for this reason, the driver will be given one timed lap. If a driver cannot check in personally, a representative may do so for them. However, if a representative is used, both the driver and car must be on-site and prepared for wheel packing when called upon, otherwise, they will face the same penalty as failing to check in entirely.

PIT MEETING

All drivers are mandated to attend a pit meeting scheduled prior to track packing. The meeting will encompass discussions regarding the designated restart area, adjustments to the race day program, and any precautionary measures, safety protocols, or other relevant issues that race officials may need to address or clarify.

The scheduled pit meeting will begin approximately 75 minutes prior to set event start times (ie., opening ceremonies) and subject to change with reasonable notice based upon conditions or external factors.

RACEDAY PROGRAM

  1. Changes in the Program – When circumstances occur, track personnel will have the authority to change the program to suit the DRIVER QUALIFICATIONS 1. The Race Director and Class Representative will decide the driver’s qualifications.
  2. Rookies – All inexperienced drivers must start at the rear of all events until approved by the Race Director and Class Rep to remove the rookie status and allow the driver to start where they have either qualified or pulled a pill to start the event.
  1. Identifying Rookies – Inexperienced drivers shall have a bright coloured ribbon on the rear of the car.
  2. Drivers who consistently encounter difficulties may be required to start at the rear of their races until they demonstrate the ability to manage their vehicles competently. This decision rests solely with the Race Director.

COMPETITOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. All competitors participating within scheduled competition are presented the opportunity to explore and understand the track conditions and elements presented prior to event commencement. Drivers/Competitors/Crew may enter the event at their own It is further acknowledged that auto racing involves risks and by competing in the event, these risks are assumed with full awareness and knowledge.
  2. All competitors in all classes are required to have, in working condition, an approved one-way radio system to aid in lineups and/or the use of race control to manage the racing event. Race-cievers / communications are mandatory.
  3. All cars are required to be equipped with a transponder securely mounted. It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure proper installation and working condition of the transponder. The location of transponders are set per individual class rulesets based upon the track specs.
  4. If a car is found to have a non-functioning transponder, they will be directed to the pits to have one installed. A penalty may be assessed at the discretion of officials. All transponders must be active for hot-lapping prior to heat/main events.

SPEEDING IN THE PITS

The pit area can be highly reactive in nature; therefore, we are particularly attentive to individuals who utilize excessive speed within this zone. Should a track official issue a warning and the speeding regulations continue to be violated, a fine, to be determined, will be imposed for the second and each subsequent infraction during the same season.

DIRECTION OF TRAVEL

The direction of travel when leaving the track – Right turn follows to your pit stall.

ENGINE HEAT / TRACK PACKING / HOT LAPS

General Safety – A car cannot be fired until the driver is wearing full class-specific safety gear, and the track has a staffed ambulance, wrecker, and push truck available.

Track Packing – Drivers must participate in wheel packing to keep their time trial / pill draw position. Those who don’t will be moved to the end of qualifying and get one lap to qualify. In the case of line-ups set by a pill draw you will be starting from the rear of the field.

Drivers are required to hot lap in their designated group unless they encounter an issue that is reported to an official.

STARTING PROCEDURE LINING UP FOR HEAT RACES AND MAIN EVENTS

Staging Area – Drivers or crew members who do not bring their car to the staging area within the allotted time frame, as requested by officials, will be required to start at the back of the line-up for that race.

STARTS

  • Initial starts will be double-file at the chalk line, with the cars side-by-side and nose-to-tail in rows of two throughout the field.
  • The leader of the race sets the pace and starts the race at the chalk
  • If a car starts early, or if a car slows after the pace has been set and creates a false start, it will be at the discretion of officials to penalize one, both or none of the front row drivers by moving them back one row.
  • In the event of a false start, the start will be called back by going

  • If we fail to get a good start after the third attempt, we will start single-file in turn four by the original line up.
  • Cars that jump a start that are not on the front row will be penalized at the next red, yellow or checkered, whichever comes first.

RESTARTS

  • All restarts will be in the restart zone as directed by the Race director
  • The leader can fire any time after their front wheels enter the restart 3.
  • If the leader starts prior to entering the restart zone a yellow will be thrown and the driver will be penalized 1 position.
  • All restarts will be single file WITHOUT GAPPING. All cars must pass to the outside (right side) of the cone in a single file If a car passes to the left of the cone, hits the cone, or passes another car prior to reaching the cone, the Race director or Flagger will call for a yellow flag and they will be penalized two spots.
  • If a driver hits the cone avoiding an accident that causes a yellow or red the driver will restart from his previous position.

FLAGS

  • Green Flag – When the starter displays the green flag, the track is open for The green flag signifies the start or restart of any race and/or time trial run.
  • Yellow Flag – When the yellow flag is displayed and/or the yellow caution lights are illuminated, this signifies a caution period.

    • During any Red Flag, ONLY EMERGENCY PERSONNEL ARE ALLOWED at the accident scene.
    • Cars that unsafely drive past the crash scene will be penalized two (2) positions or possibly disqualified at the discretion of the Race Director.
    • On a “Closed Red,” No crew members or any pit personnel are allowed on the track. Any violation of this may very well result in This rule has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy, and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.

IF a vehicle flips within a collision, the driver MUST report to the ambulance prior to exiting track or re-entering the race. A driver is allowed to continue event participation only after cleared by a medical professional immediately following the incident.

  • Red Flag (Open) – When the red flag is displayed all cars on the racing surface must come to a complete stop in a controlled manner.
    • During any red flag all drivers, unless involved in the incident, or in the case of an emergency must remain in their car unless otherwise instructed.
    • During any Red Flag, ONLY EMERGENCY PERSONNEL ARE ALLOWED at the accident scene.
    • Cars that unsafely drive past the crash scene will be penalized two (2) positions or possibly disqualified at the discretion of the Race Director.
    • On an “Open Red,” once all cars have stopped the Race Director will determine when the track is open, when the track is opened the crew may work on the car on the If a tire is changed, the car must restart at the rear of the line up in front of any cars that went to the work area.

    • When a black flag is displayed for the detrimental actions of a driver, the driver that the flag is being displayed toward must bring their car to the pits and both the driver and car are subject to race disqualification.
    • When a black flag is displayed for mechanical reasons (mechanical, tire, wing, etc.), the driver that the flag is being displayed toward must bring their car to the designated work area The car will not be scored from the point that the black flag has been displayed. If after the car is inspected and approved to return to competition, the car may only return to the track if a caution and/or red flag has been thrown.
  • Official Signals – All drivers must obey signals, communications, and any other Official’s communications that assist in the direction and facilitation of creating proper lineups and/or the process of completing the race. Failing to follow officials’ direction can lead to penalties that may include disqualifications, fines, or suspension.

GENERAL RACING PROCEDURES

  • If it is determined in any race, after the original start, that any competitor deliberately initiates a caution period, by any means, the competitor will be penalized two
  • Any car that cannot maintain a minimum race speed may be asked to leave the racing surface at the discretion of the Officials.
  • In any race once the one (1) to go signal has been displayed, cars will not be allowed to enter the racing surface unless directed by an Official.
  • The driver must stay in his/her car after an accident or breakdown on the track, unless the vehicle is on This is designed to help the tow truck return the vehicle to the work area or the pits as quickly and safely as possible.
  • All cars receive only one (1) “push off” per If a car needs more than one (1) “push off”, except for safety reasons, during any race, that car will be placed at the tail end of cars on the same lap.

  • Any car that does not race on the designated racing surface in order to better its position will be black flagged and penalized at the discretion of the Officials.
  • Any car that is involved in two (2) unaided spins will be disqualified from that heat race or main event.
  • If your vehicle spins out, DO NOT attempt to keep the car going within the A yellow flag will be thrown to avoid potential collision, and the driver will be scored at the back of your lap.
  • Competitors may stop on the track during any yellow flag situation to alert an Official of an unsafe condition, including but not limited to: driver radio not working, debris on track, driver’s safety equipment malfunction etc. and be placed back into their current running

WORK AREA

Two Minute Rule – Cars entering the designated work area under caution will be given two minutes (time permitting) from the time they reach the designated work area IF they were involved in an accident, flat tire or have been sent to the work area by the race director for suspected unsafe condition of the race car. With 10 laps or less to go, no time will be given. This 2-minute rule is at the discretion of the officials. If there isn’t time in the program, then this rule will not be applied. 2-Minute rules will not apply to heat races within an event. Main/Features races only.

GENERAL RACEWAY POLICIES

Cancellation Policy – A feature race is complete after half the scheduled laps. A race night is complete after all divisional heat races, where no pit credential refunding is allocated back.

Heat Race points are awarded if divisions complete their scheduled heat races.

Personal Safety Rules (all Divisions) – Rad Torque Speedway’s safety regulations take precedence over any other rules for series or divisions racing at Rad Torque Raceway.

All cars are subject to a safety inspection at any time or prior to taking part in any event, If the Technical Inspector or Race Director deems a car has not met the track safety standards, that car will not be allowed to compete until all the discrepancies and deficiencies are corrected. It is the responsibility of a driver, car owner and mechanic, individually and collectively to have their car free from mechanical defects and in safe racing condition and properly inspected prior to an event.

Each competitor is solely responsible for the effectiveness and proper installation, per the manufacturer’s specifications, of personal safety equipment and determining it to be adequate for competition at every event. Each competitor is expected to investigate and educate themselves for continuing improvement regarding their own personal safety equipment.

All safety equipment must be up-to-date and current.

Seat Belt and Restraint System – Each car must be equipped with a minimum of an SFI 16.1 or SFI 16.5 approved restraint system. Restraint systems will be eligible for use in competition until the expiration date or for 2 years from the date of manufacture. Seat belt restraint systems shall be installed and used in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. In any type of manufacturer’s installation, the fasteners must be as supplied by the manufacturer. The seat belts must be mounted to the chassis per the manufacturer’s instructions. Seat belt material should not come in contact with any sharp or metal edge, including when the material passes through the seat.

Protective Clothing – All drivers will be required to wear a fire-resistant driving uniform meeting minimum of the SFI 3.2A/5 specifications and display a valid SFI 3.2A/5 label on the outside of the uniform. Uniforms must be free of holes, tears or damage. Drivers must always wear gloves when they are on track. Driver’s gloves must meet or exceed the SFI 3.3 specification and have a legible and valid SFI 3.3 label.

Seating / Seats – All current seats must be full containment type constructed of aluminum or approved carbon fiber and must adhere to the general design specifications of SFI 39.2 seat construction standards. Design shall include comprehensive head surround, shoulder and torso support system, energy impact foam, and removable head foam.

Helmets – All drivers must wear a full-face helmet with a minimum safety rating of Snell SA 2015 or newer. Head and Neck Restraints (optional) Drivers who utilize the head & neck system must ensure helmets are properly connected to an approved head and neck restraint at all times while on the track and in accordance with the manufacturers’ installation and use instructions.

The head and neck restraint must be SFI 38.1 approved and must display a legible and valid SFI 38.1 label.

Recommended Personal Safety Gear – SFI 3.3 rated underwear to include socks, bottoms, top and head sock or helmet skirt.

It is the responsibility of the driver, not the Track Officials, or Rad Torque Raceway to ensure that his/her seat belt restraint system and all safety components are SFI approved, correctly installed, maintained, and safely used.

Modifications to Safety Equipment – Absolutely no modifications to safety equipment are allowed. Safety equipment must be used per the manufacturer’s instructions.

All teams must have an easily accessible fire extinguisher or its equivalent in the team’s pit area.

WAIVER

All individuals, including drag racers, crew, visitors, family, and children, entering through the drag competition gates must complete the SmartWaiver online. This waiver only needs to be completed once per season. Our gate staff will verify all electronic waivers upon entry.

Please note: Every participant MUST CHECK-IN at the competition gate DAILY before hitting the track. Daily check-ins are required for insurance compliance. Failure to comply may result in immediate removal from the facility.
